Who to use Crisis General Midi
3.01 with Synthfont?
More than a simple midi
player, Synthfont is a all in one application to edit,
arrange, improve and render score using midi standard.
VST and VSTI compatible, Synthfont
don't has built-in effects, unlike Timidity, but offers
a vast choice of plug-in. Optimized and full of practical
options, synthfont allows people to make music easily.
He is in continual development and, even if a few useful
options are not yet integrated, it's already a great
tool available for free!
Synthfont can be downloaded on
his dedicated
Web site. It's a freeware, but it's also
a "donate-ware". Don't hesitate to support
the author of this good project.
The following procedure requires you've installed (or
extracted) Synthfont on the location you want (c:\program
files\Synthfont is a good location).
Temporary
note : Some problems may be experienced
with anterior version of "Synthfont 1.020",
when rendering CGM3.01.
Configure
Synthfont |
Run Synthfont and define the
"default soundfont file" you want
to use.
|
|
Open the
"Options" panel.
|
|
Add here the
VST effect(s) you want to use later. VST files
(*.dll) are searched on the folder(s) defined
above. |
|
Define the default place to store
the arrangement files (synthfont 1.020 at least). |
|
Set the quality of Synthfont's
rendering. "Slow n' clean", a large "playback
buffer" (to prevent drop outs) and none "cut
notes short" (when notes overlapped) are very
good settings to listen midi files in optimal condition.
Take care of your CPU load, it's very consuming.
Then, close the "Options" panel by clicking
"Ok". |
|
Finally, choose the VST effect(s)
you want to apply during listening or saving music.
Click on "Add effects" and choose the
desired one. It must appear in the white field,
on the right. You can open the effect(s) to edit
his parameters. Then, click "Set Default"
button to confirm the effect(s). Now, all midi
files will use it when opened.
Also, you can assign more effect(s)
on specific channel. To do that, just choose the
"Bus chain" you want, and do the same
manipulation as above. Then, choose a raw in the
tracks field below and click on the "Assign"
button. |
